Garry unfortunately passed away in aug 2005 of a heart attack, shortly after recording another album. The rest of the band were then unsure what to do, untill they remembered that 18 months earlier, Garry had said while watching the front man (Simon Hall) of (Beholder) a local covers band "when i peg it, thats the guy you want".Shortly after Garry's death the band approached Simon to ask if he would stand in for some gigs held in Garry's memory. The dates went so well that the band decided that Garry was right, he was the guy they wanted and so asked Simon to join on a permanent basis.Garry's last album was finally released in june 2007, entitled Rock And A Hard PlaceSimon left the band late 2007 and was shortly followed by Si Fielding (bass player from Beholder who had joined us previous to The Rock and Blues in the summer of 2007). 
Since then the band have been playing a few low key local gigs and working on material for a new album, in preparation for a full assault due to start in the near future. In the words of Rocky Shades THE GREAT MIDLAND ROCK INSTITUTION THAT IS THE HEAVY ROCK BAND "THE HANDSOME BEASTS" HAVE JUST BECOME INSTITUTIONALIZED AS THEY HAVE JOINED FORCES WITH NONE OTHER THAN THE CRAZY MOTORMOUTH FRONTMAN EXTRORDINAIRE THAT IS ME ROCKY SHADES. THIS WILL COME AS A SHOCK TO BOTH BEASTS AND WRATH FANS ALIKE AS BOTH OF THE PREVIOUS BEASTS VOCALISTS WERE A BIT ON THE NOT SO THIN SIDE......NO OFFENCE MEANT AND GOD BLESS YOU FLABBY. I CAN STATE MOST CATEGORICALLY BY JOINING THIS BAND I HAVE NO INTENTION OF EATING ALL THE PIES, OR BECOMING A REGULAR VISITOR TO THE KEBAB SHOP SO WILL BRING A NEW DIMENSION TO AN ALREADY KILLER KICK ASS BAND. ANYONE WHO IS NOW FUMING AT THE P.C. SCREEN CHILL OUT, THE NEW BEASTS WILL BE THE ULTIMATE BEASTS AS I INTEND TO INHANCE NOT DESTROY THEIR ALREADY CAST IN STONE REPUTATION. AL, MARK AND MICK ARE AS CRAZY AS I AM AND THAT SUITS US JUST FINE. THEY LIKE THEIR ROCK HARD BUT NOT SERIOUS AND WHO THE F**K WOULD TAKE ME SERIOUS ANYWAY HA HA HA. IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS BAND CHECK THEM OUT I TRIED THEM AND LIKED THEM SO MUCH I KEPT THEM. ALL YOU R.S.W. FANS DO NOT DESPAIR AS INBETWEEN WORKING WITH THE "BEASTS" AND THE BIRMINGHAM BLUES BROTHERS I HAVE EVERY INTENTION OF FINISHNG WHAT I STARTED OR ANOTHER PUPPY GETTS FED TO THE TIGERS. THAT DOESNT MEAN IM TAKING THIS DUTY LIGHTLY, I WILL GIVE THE BEASTS 500% PLUS AS ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO CROSS PATHS WITH ME KNOW THAT I NEVER UNDER DELIVER ANYTHING. ANYONE OUT THERE WHO WANTS TO BOOK THIS NEW VERSION OF PERVERSION CAN CONTACT US THROUGH THE HANDSOME BEASTS "MY SPACE" SITE AND NOT THROUGH ME AS IM THE NEW BOY IN THE CAMP AND HAVENT GOT PAST THE MAKING TEA AND CLOSING THE REHEARSAL ROOM GATE STAGE. Playing in and around their home town Birmingham, the
beasts, fronted by singer Garry Dalloway (nick-named "the original fat
bastard" by the Kerrang! direktory of heavy metal), quickly became
local heroes. consequently Paul Birch, who rated the band very
highly, tried to get them a record deal asking numerous major labels
if they would be interested. They weren't, so he founded his own
label to put out the first handsome beasts single "all riot now" /
"the mark of the beast" in early 1980. Later in the same year heavy
metal issued the "breaker" ep which used the digital spiral technique -
it played "crazy" or "one in a crowd" depending on where you put the
record needle at the beginning - a gimmick later used by Kiss.
Dalloway, bassist Steve Hough, guitarist Phil Aston and
drummer Pete Malbasa played further gigs in the midlands area before
recording their debut lp "Beastiality" in 1981 (by which time Aston had
been replaced by Paul Robins). With an outrageous but humorous
cover, the album showed that musically the beasts still incorporated
massive blues influences into their meaty metal sound. It was a pity,
though, that the album featured only four new songs ("david's song" /
"another
day" / "tearing me apart" / "high speed") as the rest of the material
was
already known from their three singles ( the latest being "sweeties"
and
the ballad-like "you're on your own" b side). When the n.w.o.b.h.m.
lost
it's momentum towards the middle of the 80's they split up.
Garry reformed the
band in 1990 with guitarist Maz Matrenko, Ray Richman on drums and
released
The Beasts Within album. Another album was recorded during the 90's
entitled
Little Sister but was never released.
